Quote Design

1.) One of the main elements of design I used in my design was color. With the colors I chose were all to represent the South African flag and I also used the colors to symbolize freedom. Another element of design I used was shape and how I made Nelson Mandela himself come out through the text as well as his numbers come through as well. A principle of design that I used was rhythm and how the repeated quote and colors balanced the whole design out nicely.
2.) The assignment for the design was to make a historic or famous quote into a design, so I chose my hero Nelson Mandela. I made it my own by incorporating lots of detail and hidden features that came out good in the final design. I also used the clipping mask to create much of the design but in a way that was different like with the numbers.
3.) How I went through planning is that I found a quote that I really liked and from there I found images or other things that went along with it. I chose a picture of Nelson Mandela in jail to really drive home the point of the quote. It is original because I incorporated all aspects of Nelson Mandela his prison cell, his country's flag, and his prison number.

Emotions

1) I think the excitement image shows the mood of the design in lines because it shows lots of emotion. I made this design so that the lines were coming out of the word with enthusiasm and speed, two things that I associate with excitement. The mood of this design was exemplified in the lines and splotches of ink as well as the different layers of the design.
2) I used big, bold fonts to show excitement with just hectic motions that look disorganized, like how you would if you were excited. I also put a slight yellow haze behind the word excitement because when I think yellow I think of bright, excitement. Also what I did to really emphasize the word excitement I put the definition of excitement all around with different opacities to show more depth in the design.
3) This could influence my future designs because I will know better how to use tools to be expressive and get my point across more fluidly. I can also use how I stretched the letters in my future designs and then apply that to shapes and pictures.

Logos

1. The name logo used color from the windows of the buildings that made up my name. The shape of my name was supposed to resemble buildings and a tree. For the principles their is proportion in all of the sizes of the letters and they balance each other by having different shapes inside of them and having some of them bigger than the others.
2. The assignment for the design was to create two logos; one for a band, a company, or an already made logo and to make it your own, the other was to make your name into a logo or something that represent you into a logo. I made the logo into my own by putting things I liked into my name logo, like cities, night, and trees. I made a logo for a band my other logo which I based off a picture of their designs and incorporated their name into the design.
3. For the name logo I sketched out what I wanted it to look like and it ended up looking just like my sketch in the final piece. I had an idea for my name and it just went together perfectly in the end. For the band logo I took a different approach to what the band did for themselves and put their name in the fire. Its original because they are a relatively unknown band and its incorporating my ideas with theirs to create something unique.
